On October 16th, 2017, a security researcher has reported some serious vulnerabilities in the WPA-2 security protocol. An attacker within the range of Wi-Fi network can exploit weaknesses of the protocol using key reinstallation attacks (KRACKs).

As for TP-Link wireless routers, they won’t be affected by the vulnerabilities when working in the default router mode or the access point mode. However, they can be affected when working in the WDS bridging mode, which is disabled by default and rarely used in most cases.

As for this case, it’s highly recommended to use the routers in default router mode or access point mode until a beta release is available for the vulnerabilities.
